A new arena for impact. We were proud to conceive and produce the inaugural Social Impact Summit x Sport, this time powered by Nike.
On October 6, which was also National Coaches Day, the Social Impact Fund took its signature summit somewhere it had never been: the world of sport. Presented by the Social Impact Fund, powered by Nike and in partnership with ESPN, the first-ever Social Impact Summit x Sport filled the newly opened Lucas Museum of Narrative Art for an intimate seated dinner. The evening explored how sport can be a meaningful lever for change and what it will take to build the future of youth sport.
The night opened just across the street from the Los Angeles Coliseum, where Joan Benoit Samuelson won the first-ever Olympic women’s marathon in 1984. She joined Nike Chief Impact Officer Vanessa Garcia-Brito for a fireside chat on breaking barriers and the road to LA28. ESPN’s Stan Verrett led “The Power of Coaching” with Dallas Wings star Azzi Fudd, Coaching Peace founder Diana Cutaia and San Diego Wave FC’s Becki Tweed. Olympian and World Cup veteran Ali Riley then moderated “Creating the Future of Youth Sport” with NBA champion Baron Davis, Paralympian Scout Bassett and LA Recreation and Parks GM Jimmy Kim. To close the night, five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher presented the LA84 Foundation with the Excellence in Sport Impact Award, accepted by president Renata Simril.
Fifth & Hardy secured a media partnership with ESPN and designed and produced the evening, bringing the Social Impact Summit series to a third stage, alongside Los Angeles and New York.
